Cameroon Safari Tours and Adventure Packages
Cross to Manoka Island from Douala, hike the crater lakes of Mount Manengouba, explore Lake Nyos and the Western Highlands, and venture into the Congo Basin, all planned around your dates by our Cameroon based travel experts.
Cameroon earns its Africa in Miniature nickname because nearly every African landscape appears somewhere within its borders. Douala serves as the coastal gateway close to Manoka Island and Kribi, the Western Highlands hold volcanic crater lakes and traditional kingdoms, and the Congo Basin in the southeast preserves ancient rainforest that few visitors to the continent ever reach.
Cameroon History and Top Attractions
A short background on the country, followed by the places most worth building your itinerary around.
Cameroon land has been home for centuries to a wide range of kingdoms and communities, from the Sultanate of Bamoun in the west to coastal trading peoples along the Atlantic. Germany established the colony of Kamerun in the late nineteenth century, and after the First World War the territory was divided between British and French administration. The French and British Cameroons reunified after independence in the early 1960s, bringing together two colonial legacies within a single country.
Ahmadou Ahidjo became the country first president at independence, and the decades since have brought long term political continuity alongside gradual economic development centered on agriculture, oil and, increasingly, tourism. Cameroon combines coastal beaches, volcanic highlands, savanna in the far north and Congo Basin rainforest in the southeast, a range of environments that gave rise to its Africa in Miniature reputation.
